Treat Your Cattle Well

kisscow.jpgSometimes, it's just that extra special something that makes all the difference for people. Apparently this goes for dairy cows as well!

LiveScience.com has the scoop on a UK study that shows how caring about cattle benefits both the farmers and the cows:

"Just as people respond better to the personal touch, cows also feel happier and more relaxed if they are given a bit more one-to-one attention," Douglas said. "By placing more importance on the individual, such as calling a cow by her name or interacting with the animal more as it grows up, we can not only improve the animal's welfare and her perception of humans, but also increase milk production."
This is something that some of our farmers already take to heart, like the Goodrich family who have named every one of their 200+ Jerseys! With such attentiveness, you can be sure that happy cows can also be found in Vermont!
